In the section we will discuss what I like to call The Basics of Home Cooking. Okay we may as well get it out of the way, right from the start, you don’t have to spend a fortune on pots, pans and knives to be a great home cook. Now, while it may be true that, you get what you pay for, you can start with a good basic set of cookware and knives and then slowly add to it with quality items as your skills improve. A $300 tennis racket will not make you a pro, much in the same way that purchasing high end kitchen items will not, by themselves, improve your cooking skills. So buy only what you can afford and remember that you can always improve the items that you use later. Remember, great cooking is a journey, not a destination.
